Gone – The Show Ponies
Only tenderness to warm us up today, after my leeks and potatoes soup, meet my little raclette. We have a great raclette machine in France but we didn’t take it with us when we moved in Cardiff and we keep looking for new recipes to find this marvelous taste again. I’ve already introduced jackets raclette to you, and the other day I was lost on Facebook and I found a yummy video about a raclette cake. Revelation.
Serve 4 or 6 (you never how much people eat…crazy!): 8 or 10 potatoes, 1 tablespoon of oil, 1 onion, 200g streaky bacon, 2 tablespoons of creme fraiche, raclette cheese.
Prep: 5 mn — Cook: 25mn + 15mn
Potatoes: you need enough of them to cover a springform cake tin so the number depends on the size. Put them in boiling water and allow them to cook for a while.
In the meantime, brown the onion with the oil. Also cut slices of streaky bacon. When it is soft, add the bacon.
Preheat the oven to 200°.
When your potatoes are boiled, put them in the cake tin and smashed them a little, they should cover the bottom. Add the creme fraiche on top, then the onion and bacon. Cover with raclette cheese, as much as you want, no need to count just enjoy!
Cook for about 15mn, the cheese must be melted. Remove from the cake tin.
#yummy right? Look at this cheese melting… Tell you what, raclette cheese is not the easiest to find here but there’s nothing like it so if I were you, I’ll find it just to taste. You’ll never get rid of it.
